Radio Diaries

Go to http://www.radiodiaries.org/. Look for Deported: Weazel's Story. Listen to the story and think about your own struggle to start a new life in America. Can you relate to Weazel's difficulties learning a new language? Think of some adjectives to describe the emotions you felt as you tried to understand the customs and culture of your new country. Share with the rest of the class any interesting stories or experiences related to this topic.

Listen up!

http://mthomsen1776.podomatic.com/

This blog is the creation of an instructor at the Center For Immigrant Education and Training at La Guardia Community College . Students can find concise scripted English on topic like, taking an order from a customer, calling in late or sick to work, taking a reservation, or telephone basics. Real life and practical applications for adults learning English-as-a second-language who are gearing up to enter the workforce or find better employment

http://uscitizenpod.blogspot.com/
A very comprehensive blog detailing all things American. A wonderful resource for those giving civics instructions. Those applying for Citizenship will find a plethora of useful and fun facts on American history, cultural and customs. Patriotic song lyrics and links to YouTube renditions are a big hit with students.

The sheer variety of learning activities this blog offers makes it worth mentioning. There is much to sing and read along to , cloze excises and jokes galore. It offers short but well designed topics like health matters, American customs, personalities, weather and so much more. Students especially love the jazz chants. A wonderful blog one can recommend to students looking to bolster language production while having fun. Edutainment anyone?
